Ok, so you've freaked out about that crazy astronomer who wanted to get famous by 'attempting' to throw a monkey wrench into the Zodiacal Wheel?
Don't worry, you are still the same zodiacal sign (by whatever system you use, ie tropical or sidereal), nothing has changed,
and this is 'old news' about a non-issue.
Read below for some answers to your astrological questions!

regarding the recent disinformation about the 13th sign (via Facebook):
As a professional Astrologer, I do have my thoughts and opinions about the 'news' of the Zodiac being 'wrong.' I have already posted a bit on this last night, so refer to my FB profile for additional information. I could have gone in this note into explaining the 'technical' explanation about why this 'news' is disinformation, but quite frankly I don't think most folks want to get into the mathematics of it all. Many of my Astrologer associates across the globe have already responded to this in order to ease the minds and hearts of the Collective, so please do check out the websites of the professional organizations I listed on my post if you want to learn more about the technicalities. Anyways, I'll just post a few thoughts that struck me as being important to share, which happen to go beyond the original topic and into something more 'personal' for each one of you.
"As above, so below" goes the hermetic principle...astronomers have a long way to go before they actually understand the complex systems of the various applications of Astrology, whether we are discussing the Western/Tropical systemor the Vedic system or the Heliocentric model or Uranian system. Unless one has properly studied it, even if one starts as a skeptic, one should not speak on a subject that one is ignorant about. Disinformation causes confusion anduncessary stress. So, you Zodiac sign has not changed, and you CAN choose to look at Signs (as Archetypal Vessels of Energy), Constellations or Fixed Stars...these are all different ways of working with the Cosmos 'out there' as areflection of the Cosmos 'in here'...
Although I am a lover of Ophiuchus,I strongly feel (as do most western astrologers) that it is not throwing the Zodiac out of order and this is an old argument that astronomers use to try to discredit astrology. That said, in my opinion Ophiuchus is a Sacred Bridge to a Higher Consciousness that reaches out to the remainder of the Constellations - and as such, most of Humanity cannot yet grasp the Whole Sky and must start with the basics...to achieve the Higher Consciousness of the Celestial Chakras we must first get very clear within our everyday human affairs starting with cleaning out the lower centers of our Consciousness. This whole topic takes us into deep esoteric areas, which I welcome to discuss with any who might be interested.
Yes, the Cosmos is an ever-unfolding Being-ness who nevertheless remain as much a Mystery to us as we are to ourSelves! Honestly, why do you think that this is such a big deal? It's because we are truly an Amazing Mystery to OURSELVES, and we look for guidance in various systems in order to better come to Know Ourselves. We as Individuals and as a Collective Human Body, do shift alongside the Cosmos. There are stars dying and being born all the time, just as Humans come in and out of existance on this earthly plane. Galaxies collide in magnificent displays of color and light, just as we on Earth merge and/or collide with others of our species as we dance together in relationships. New planets and celestial bodies are 'discovered' to our astronomical instruments, just as we come to find out about previously unknown aspects of ourSelves as we look within our own mind/heart. And as the Cosmos shifts positions from our apparent position in Space, our PERSPECTIVES about Life, about OurSelves, about God/Dess, about EVERYTHING changes in order to encompass a greater understanding of something that nevertheless will remain A Great Mystery.
And this is something that the 'traditional' scientists including astronomers, will never understand...we cannot penetrate the Unfathomable Quest~Ion Mark that is Infinitude. Just try it...there are no instruments made by human hands or comprehensible by the human intellect that can truly answer that Quest~Ion...however, if you put your Soul and Heart out to The Universe, as we do with Astrology and any Archetypal system of self-inquiry, then maybe you might discover something worth discussing. At least, in my practice, I approach each Individual as a Spark of the Great Mystery who is a living, breathing, manifestation of thatInfinitesmially Beautiful Quest~ion Mark.
So, why do we limit ourselves?????
Now, returning to the original point: as I noticed all the frantic posting across FB and other social networking sites, what concerned me most, was not the nonsense from the astronomer (this happens every few years actually so this is not 'new' news to us), but the fact that most people still believe that they are only 1 sign! What I have noticed is that there is still a lot more educating of the collective that needs to take place about each Individual's amazing, unique, and complex Self!! And this is where the many systems and forms of Astrology excel over any other therapeutic or introspective method.
Ask yourSelf if at times you feel like there are various 'Selves' at work in your mind and life? In fact, although you are an Individual, you are a complex set of various psychological, emotional, physical, spiritual, mental components/aspects, and certainly this complexity cannot be properly understood by reading just your 'Sun Signs' horoscope! You are vastly more than that! And as part of a massively complicated and beautiful Cosmos, you have all stars, all planets, all constellations and all dimensions part of Who You Really Are! Therefore, you have not only a Sun Sign in one of the 12 Zodiacal Signs,but you also have a Moon Sign (describing your emotional security needs and spiritual DNA), and a Mercury Sign (= your preferred learning & communication style and the way you mentally process information), and a Mars Sign (= the manner in which you go about getting that which you desire as well as career issues), and a Saturn Sign, a Venus Sign, a Jupiter sign, etc, etc etc. These are all arrayed in different positions and relationships to one another, according to the exact moment and viewed from the exact location in which you were born on this gorgeous Earth!
There is SOOOOO much to work with in an Individual's astrological chart, and it merits your visiting a professionalastrologer properly trained in this great science/art. Do not short-change yourSelf by believing you are the one sign! You have all 12 Zodiacal Signs IN YOU, in wonderfully unique configurations, and as Nature and Cosmos go throughtheir shifts and movements, so does your inner world! To become aware of these Cycles (as above, so below) is the single greatest gift of personal empowerment you can give yourSelf! If you each only knew how vast, wild and endlessly creative you are, you would never be confused by such trifle disinformation as what is going on through the internet about this subject. So, take a breather if you were caught in this nonsense, and take a moment to check in and affirm to yourSelf that you are the Cosmos itself, a Human embodiment of all the magnificence of a vast and magickal Creation! Embrace your Totality!

I've been contacted by friends via email and on FB about this non-sense article that appears to be flooding the internet regarding the 'new' Zodiac, and let me assure everyOne that this is the same old argument that astronomers and overly religious types have attempted to use to 'debunk' Astrology (which is the 'original' astronomy by the way).
Yes, there is a '13th Sign' and I've introduced this to my students and participants of my Astology Playshops as a VERY important Archetype for the coming new age. HOWEVER, it does NOT shift the dates of the 12 Zodiac Signs! There are many, many Constellations that lie above & below what we call the Ecliptic (and the Zodiacal Belt), and all of these have very valuable aspects which we would do well to investigate. BUT it does NOT change the Zodiac!
In my personal research and channelings, Ophiuchus the Serpent Holder, brings us the energy and vibration of the Christ Consciousness, and WILL have an important role to play as we mediate 'reality' from the outgoing Piscean Age into the incoming Aquarian Age. But I repeat, it does NOT shift the Zodiac! For people that do not study Astrology professionally, I imagine that this insane article causes everything from excitment to frustration, but I ask you to go to a PROFESSIONAL ASTROLOGER (hey, I'm available) and have your natal chart interpreted. This will surely put to rest the nonsense about 'sun sign astrology' and the other limitations that astronomers and various religious institutions love to use to poke holes in a very Sacred System of Self-Knowledge that has been used for thousands of years to assist the serious-minded Seeker.
As a final word of warning, I repeat, go to a COMPETENT ASTROLOGER who has studied this Ancient Art/Science, if you'd like to emPower yourself (steer clear of the non-professionals and psychics who only dabble in this Sacred System).
You are each much, much more than just your Sun sign! You also have a Moon Sign (referring to your Soul's needs and unconscious habit patterns), a Mercury Sign (your preferred communication/learning style), etc. Such wonderful unique individuals that we each are must be looked at HOLISTICALLY by considering the entire Zodiac in your charts.

PS: This is not about the difference between the Western and Eastern (Vedic) systems...the article flooding the net is referring to the constellations, which is in fact different than the archetypes or signs).
Hello again...here are some more related points to my MoonCoach FB original post...
There are in fact 3 main branches in Astrology:
- Tropical which is more 'earth 'based and the one utilized mostly in the Western world;
- Sidereal which is based on the fixed stars, and preferred by the Hindu/Vedics (and contrary to popular belief this version does not work with the actual whole constellations as they actually appear in the sky);
- And finally the one that the article and the astronomers love to point out: constellational, which try as a handful of astrologers may, it is impossible to work out a true constellational astrology system. Mind you, I'm the eternal optimist when it comes to systems busting, but it is truly impossible.
(I would be happy to direct you to various resources on all these branches if you are interested. I have a whole list of my favorite professional astrologers and astrological researchers who are better equipped than I to explain the technicalities of the above as well as some of the systems I mention below).
I don't' know how many of you are aware of the Heliocentric model, but this one is awesome and put the Sun at the center, and really opens one up to consider other possibilities and stretch out towards greater alignment with our Divine Self.
And then there is Uranian or Cosmobiology, which works with hypothetical points in space & uses the 90 degree wheel (as opposed to our 360 degree wheel) - and probably the only truly effective 'predictive' version there is.
And one of my personal favorites, Galactic Astrology, actually works with the black holes (obviously including the Galactic Center) and the many, many types of star systems such as binary stars and x-ray stars, etc.
Oh, I could go on and on about this, and I am so very passionate about it all (it's so very expansive of Consciousness!), BUT it is important to start with the basic abc's of Astrology before heading out into the vaster reaches of Outer (and Inner) Space.
Now, all that said, I am a staunch defender and teacher of the importance of Ophiuchus and the Sacred Number 13. I've been writing and teaching about this for many, many years...BUT that is a completely different story from trying to change the Zodiac and the entire system. What is necessary is to educate the public (which we Astrologers have been working so passionately on doing) about the WHOLE SYSTEM, and not just bits and pieces. For example, Astrology is a system that combines many other esoteric principles not the least which is the Sacred Geometry of numbers and shapes, as well as the fact that we have a Whole Sky with which to deal, both outwardly and inwardly, and there is magick and power in this knowledge...but most people are not yet ready (as evidenced by so many superficial posts on FB and Twitter) to deal with the expanded consciousness that comes as a result of thinking and living wholistically (like the sky, that has not only 12 main zodiac signs, but actually about 88 constellations that are part of the complete picture). I do know this is changing, but it will take a strong desire on the parts of individuals to stretch beyond their existing 'comfort zones' and find out more about who they truly are. I guess that is why there are so many dedicated teachers/facilitators who so passionately put out information, lessons, and experiences that are designed to 'pop' the mass consciousness out of their sleep state.We are not just 1 sign, nor just 12, or 13, or even 88, but so much more!
Ophiuchus to me is the one that bridges the realities and the One that acts as the Conduit between the Sacred 12, and the 'rest of the whole sky'...it is the 'original' archetype of Christed Consciousness, and has been pouring forth healing energy and wisdom of life/death/rebirth for thousands of years, not just now. He, along with the entire sky of 88 or so constellations are WITHIN US, and has been all along. Humanity is simply now becoming aware of it because of the internet...and that in fact is the 'bright' side to this whole scam - that it's bringing him into the collective awareness to at least consider the possibilities...and now we have to step in to show the way...
You know?
Ophiuchus is without doubt my favorite, and i do work with this ARCHETYPE in my Sacred Work as an Astrologer, as a Healer, Coach and Facilitator...the important thing to keep in mind through all this is that the system we work with in the west, is ARCHETYPALLY driven, so we are dealing with a vast array of Archetypes that are 'old' but being re-discovered, as well as being introduced to newly emerging Archetypes which are even now being imagined and dreamed into being by each and every one of US. Archetypes are CONTAINERS OF ENERGY and of FREQUENCIES, and are encoded in us, not unlike some form of unactivated divine DNA, waiting to be re-awakend and reactivated. If you wish to know more about the 13th Sign, and about the 14, and the 21st, and the 33rd, and the 88th, then GO WITHIN and commune with them. This is part of the work that I do with others, and that certainly more and more people will begin to work/play with.

Most of the issue though, for us that have already been working with not just the 12 but the whole sky in many ways astrological, is that this apparent 'new' discovery is not new and it is not the 13th Sign in the way that the astronomers are billing it. In fact, there is a potential other '13th' (itself a very Sacred Number), which some astrologers have posited as Arachne, and equally as powerful an Archetype for healing and of the divine feminine. (For the record, if there were to be an 'official' 13th sign, I would consider it to be Ophiuchus).
About Ophiuchus, he is one of 88 constellations that we work with in the whole sky, but we do not place all 88 constellations in a natal chart...these others outside the main 12, actually fall above or below the Ecliptic and DO teach us much about Who We Are, but as addendum or added pieces to the main 12 Archetypes. Personally, I adore Ophiuchus as he is the Serpent Bearer who brings alchemical healing and the real 'resurrection' which has been a part of multicultural mythologies for millenia. So, yes, we must embrace Ophiuchus, and as I teach in my Astrology classes, he is the bridge between the Sacred Twelve and the remainder of the Whole Sky...a harbinger of Wholeness (the real point of healing after all).
